A Dental Crown In A Day? Meet Our CEREC Machine!12th October 2018
Discover how CEREC technology has reduced the wait time from weeks to a matter of hours at Hitchin Dental Care.
Getting a dental crown can be a lengthy process – and quite rightly when you consider the time it takes to plan the treatment, prepare the tooth, take impressions, commission a lab to design and mill the restoration, and then fit the crown in place. But with CEREC at Hitchin Dental Care – our latest high-tech investment, all that has changed. CEREC’s advanced digital technology allows us to do all the above in a single appointment – with no compromise on quality.
How CEREC works
- The first stage of CEREC treatment is just the same as for a traditional crown – the dentist will prepare your tooth by smoothing it down into the ideal shape for the restoration.
- Digital dental impressions are taken in the chair – doing away with messy dental gloop! You’ll be able to breathe and swallow normally and can halt the process at any time if you need to.
- The CEREC software generates a high-definition 3D model of your restoration, which is wirelessly transmitted to an in-house milling machine.
- Your porcelain crown is milled while you wait – and then your dentist will fit and hand-finish the final restoration.
Perhaps best known for offering same-day crowns, CEREC can also be used for fillings, inlays, onlays and veneers. So, if you’re in need of a dental restoration, Hitchin Dental Care is your destination for CEREC in Hertfordshire.
