Bone Grafting

Replenishing lost jaw bone with bone grafting

If you are considering dental implants, you will first need to have a sufficient volume of jaw bone to support the implant. We first take scans to assess the density of your bone. If we discover that you don’t have enough bone for implants, we can put you forward for bone grafting.

What causes bone to disappear?

If you have lived with a missing tooth for a while, your jaw bone naturally starts to disappear without the tooth to provide structure. In some cases of severe gum disease, the bone tissue can become under attack from a more aggressive immune system.

What does the treatment involve?

There are different ways in which we can help restore the jaw bone. We can take bone tissue from other areas and add it to the site of the implant. This is the most effective method as you naturally accept your own bone tissue more readily than another type. We can use a guiding regeneration treatment that encourages your bone to naturally grow, however this takes far longer than a simple bone graft.

We offer sedation for all types of surgery so if you are a nervous patient, we can make sure that you can fully relax and not worry about the treatment.
